Large 'Gagged Washington' Mural Goes Up at 15th and U Streets NW
A large mural featuring a gagged George Washington has been installed on the front of 1502 U Street NW, a building owned by DC Vote founder and board member Daniel Solomon. According to DC Vote spokesperson Leah Ramsay, the mural, which took a couple of days to put up, was something that Solomon had been aiming to do for some time. The mural was painted by Aniekan Oudofia and Liz Brown (the sister of Warren Brown, who's CakeLove bakery occupies the space next door to where the mural is painted). Solomon "has been wanting to do this project for some time," Ramsay said, noting that DC Vote coordinated the project and ensured that everything with regards to permits was above-board.
