Halloween weekend is coming up, and if you're anything like me, you probably still have no earthly idea what to wear for a costume. But at least you won't have to worry about having a pocket free to carry cash for a ride home. The SoberRide program, which provides free taxi rides to people around various holidays, will be back in place this weekend.

Sponsored by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program and AT&T, the program will comp cab fares of up to $30 for anyone 21 and over between 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and 6 a.m. on Sunday, October 30. The cabs will be dispatched to those who dial 800-200-TAXI. In a new wrinkle, those with AT&T service can simply dial #TAXI to connect to the free taxi dispatcher -- or, you know, just tell Siri to do it.

I'm thinking of renting a fleet of cabs for the evening and having them bring the young coeds directly to me.

  • Bender anyone?

For the last time... this service never works.  The cabs never show up, you end up stranded and wake up with a furry... hoping to god it's a female under the bear mask despite the sore ass and scratches on your belly.

I think you might be accidentally calling SableRide, not SoberRide.

Today is another one of your really good days. Did you switch medications again?

  • CJ_Scudworth

I just pick medications at random.

just tell Siri to do it.

"I luuurrrrveee you..." *hiccup* "Siri, come back to me, baby! Give me my keys, I'm driving over there, man..."

Siri: "I hope you don't say that to those other mobile phones."

In my head Siri sounds like Marcy from the Charlie Brown cartoons.

  • Should we worry about having a pocket free to put our (non-vehicle) keys in so some girl doesn't wander off with them?
