The February issue of Washingtonian may have surprised subscribers when they pulled it out of their mailbox. The cover image depicts a man grooming a large marijuana leaf topiary on the front lawn of a decidedly suburban landscape.

What follows is a 14-page spread about the way residents of D.C. consume marijuana complete with infographics, timelines and pie charts explaining the city state's general attitude toward the drug and the way it's used. A reader learns that the first ward consumes the most pot, that 72 percent of those polled believe it should be legalized and that 25 percent believe it is a gateway drug.

We're no strangers to covering the sweet sweet cheeba here at DCist, so we culled some of our coverage for your reading pleasure.
