Video: Guided By Voices Introduced By Superfan Jay Carney

Last night, Guided by Voices played to a sell-out crowd at the Black Cat behind new album Cool Planet. GBV fans were greeted by none other than the White House's own press secretary Jay Carney, who introduced the band:

Carney's love of the Ohio-based band is well-documented: He once accidentally called Senator Mitch McConnell "Mitch Mitchell"; described Dayton, Ohio as "home of the Wright brothers, the Dayton Peace Accords and Guided by Voices, the greatest rock-and-roll band in the modern era"; and was interviewed by the Washington Post to discuss his passion for GBV.

Carney's wasn't by himself at the gig—he brought his son Hugo:
