Don Peebles

Extremely wealthy real estate developer Don Peebles has decided not to run for mayor against Adrian Fenty this year after all. Peebles sent out an email to his supporters today letting them know of his decision, citing the recent death of his mother, his mother-in-law’s ill health, and a desire to look out for his wife and children during this time.

Peebles is mostly based in Miami, but has roots in D.C. politics and and grew up in the city. One of his many properties includes the Washington Marriott.

Given Peebles’s decision, we’re then forced to speculate: will he follow through on his promise to back another candidate, and will that candidate be Vincent Gray?
