Flights from the District to destinations warm and tropical canceled on the eve of spring break? Awful news. The terrific winds and snowstorms north of us forced dozens of carriers to delay or cancel flights out of the District over the weekend, according to ABC7. That’s dreadful news for anyone who had plans to leave the Capital behind and head for warmer climes — but not the worst news from the D.C. area’s airports this evening.
Our sympathies ought to lie with 1) anyone flying back from Vancouver tonight after the overtime hockey loss and 2) people who hoped to fly out on one of two flights involved in a minor accident at National Airport. ABC7 reports that two U.S. Airways flights — one landing from New York, one outbound for Fort Lauderdale — were involved in a minor accident. No injuries were reported, so there’s that, but a fender-bender between jet planes sounds just plain terrifying.
