Between the DCPS contract and ensuing is there or isn’t there a surplus drama, the long-awaited testimony of Sinclair Skinner, the resurrection of the D.C. voting rights bill, and the mayoral campaign shifting into high gear, it’s been a busy week for local politics. So busy, in fact, that one man who may yet still be about to step into the 2010 election fray has been almost forgotten: R. Donahue Peebles.

Peebles, the millionaire developer who got an earlier start in politics as an aide to former Mayor Marion Barry, has been hedging on whether he’ll enter the mayor’s race since last fall. First he seemed gung-ho, then he said he couldn’t run for family reasons, then he was waiting for Vince Gray to make up his mind. Gray filed his paperwork a couple weeks ago, but Peebles still hasn’t made a firm decision either way. Will he, finally, do so today? Odds are good: Peebles is booked as the main guest on today’s Politics Hour with Kojo Nnamdi. Tune in to 88.5 WAMU at noon to find out.
