- In the Washington Business Journal, Michael Neibauer has some fun with arcane D.C. government regulations dictating who can and cannot become a licensed tour guide in the city — regulations that will soon be revised. ‘No longer must an aspiring guide maintain a “sound physique” with at least 20/40 eyesight and hearing in both ears, not live with epilepsy, vertigo or heart trouble, and be free from any contagious or infectious disease. And a “drunkard,” according to the amended rules, is free to apply.’
- Bundle.com recently ranked how much individuals in different metro areas spend on eating out, and Arlington came in a close second (Austin, TX ranked first), with residents there spending a whopping $6,285 each per year on dining. D.C. residents came in sixth, spending $5,543 per year. At the other end of the spectrum, people in Detroit shell out only $871 per year on average at restaurants.
