If you’re sticking around town this weekend, make sure to take note of changes to Metrorail and bus service schedules for Memorial Day.

On Monday, May 31, the Metrorail system will open at 7 a.m., and operate on a regular Sunday schedule until it closes at midnight. Metrobus and MetroAccess service will also operate on a Sunday schedule, as will Ride On and DASH.

In addition to Sunday service-only on Monday, planned work on the Dulles corridor expansion will cause Orange Line service between East Falls Church and West Falls Church-VT/UVA to shut down completely for the entire holiday weekend.

From 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, to closing on Monday, May 31, the Orange Line will be split into two sections, the first running from Vienna/Fairfax-GMU to West Falls Church-VT/UVA, and the second between New Carrollton and East Falls Church. Both the East Falls Church and West Falls Church-VT/UVA stations will remain open. Metro will operate free shuttle bus service between the two stations approximately every 15 minutes. Orange Line riders are advised to build an extra 30 minutes into their travel plans throughout the long weekend.

Continued work on the elevated tracks between New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood will also cause delays along that section of the Red Line. Plan for an extra 20 minutes of travel time while trains will share the same track between those two stops from 10 p.m. on Friday, May 28, to closing on Sunday, May 30.
