You asked, we deliver. A couple of weekends ago, DCist told you about a time capsule in Silver Spring which had been buried underground for 35 years. Our commentariat wondered with breathless excitement as to what could possibly be located within the confines of the box. Buried treasure? Important historical documents? A plot for world domination? No, the contents were far less interesting: the Silver Spring Historical Society unearthed twelve dollar bills from the box, each signed by a member of the fraternity which used to be located in the building above the capsule. Jerry McCoy, president of the Historical Society, dubbed the bills “a history mystery,” though they sure just look like regular dollars signed by a bunch of normal people to us. Guess that’ll teach y’all to get your hopes up.
