We thought it might be a good idea to update you on some of the post-storm cleanup that is happening around the District. Pepco — whose outage map as of 11:35 a.m. is above — currently reports more than 100,000 outages in its service area. The utility admitted that power could, once again, take days to restore in certain areas. Complicating restoration efforts, as usual, are several trees that are down around the city. Downed trees are causing problems on Oregon Avenue near Western Avenue, on Canal Road and in several other smaller residential pockets. DDOT is on the scene at many of these sites, and things seem to be clearing up slowly, but surely.
On the other hand, traffic lights around the District are a complete mess — there’s far too many intersections to list that aren’t operating properly, but as always, treat such intersections as four-way stops and be cautious whether you are driving, cycling or walking.
