The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting death of 31-year-old Neil Michael Godleski. Residents near Sherman Circle in Petworth called police to report gunshots at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Officers found Godleski unresponsive on the south side of the circle, along Kansas Avenue, NW. Godleski was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. NBC4 is reporting Godleski lived nearby, in the 500 Block of Ingraham Street, NW. Homicide detectives are investigating, urging anyone with information to contact 1-800-919-CRIM(E).

UPDATE 10:40 p.m: TBD is reporting that Godleski was riding his bicycle when attacked by an unknown number of suspects. Police are looking at robbery as a possible motive.
