Mayor Adrian Fenty’s got Ron Moten, Sinclair Skinner, and Omar Karim. But who does Vince Gray have?
The Post’s Tim Craig answers that very question today in an article detailing the close group of friends that Gray looks to for support and advice, whether that’s of the personal or the political kind. There’s former fraternity brothers Bruce C. Bereano and Herb Miller, and former D.C. official Lorraine Green and lobbyist David Wilmot. Then there’s Linda Green and Fred Cooke, who are notoriously associated with Council member Marion Barry (D-Ward 8), just to name a few.
But beyond simply delving into who influences the potential mayor-to-be, there are a few details that you might not otherwise ever have know. Like that Gray and his friends like softball — and hand-dancing. And that Gray really likes Sex and the City. Writes Craig:
To underline the value he places on friendship, Gray identifies “Sex and the City” as his favorite TV series. He has seen almost every episode and can recount in great detail the fictional lives of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha.
“I like the relationships between the ladies,” Gray said. “I really enjoy the friendships that they enjoy between each other…The symbolism for me is their ability to support one another.”
Gray’s appreciation for the HBO series is such that when the Sex and the City 2 movie came out earlier this year, Gray even snuck out of work to catch it at Gallery Place. Alone.
Props to Gray for copping to his guilty pleasure and to Craig for getting the juicy scoop.
