Mayor Adrian Fenty addressed the media outside his campaign headquarters this morning and said that he had officially conceded the mayoral primary race to Vince Gray. “Washington, D.C., is doing some fantastic things right now, and we both want those fantastic things to continue,” said Fenty, who also defrayed rumors that he would challenge Gray in November’s general election as a Republican or Independent candidate, instead putting his support firmly behind the Democratic ticket. The outgoing Mayor also said that he “has no intention of ever leaving” the District, though his future in politics remains murky. “For me, this is the beginning of the end of a great ten-year run,” said Fenty.
