Photo by easement.Tim Carman, who has been doing a bang-up job covering the “burgers vs. lawyers” lawsuit, tweeted from the proceedings that D.C. Superior Court Judge John M. Mott has ruled in favor of law firm Steptoe and Johnson — and that Rogue States will have to cease grilling operations by the close of business today. Steptoe and Johnson, whose offices are located at 1330 Connecticut Avenue NW, filed the suit, which claimed that exhaust fumes from the burger joint at 1300 Connecticut had been wafting in to its office space, causing nausea, headaches and general annoyance. As someone who watched the entire trial unfold, Carman believed that blame for the whole ridiculous situation mostly lied with the landlord of Rogue States’ building, which didn’t build appropriate venting, and the law firm for not realizing the pains restaurateurs go through.
But with Mott’s ruling, it appears like Rogue States is finished as a commercial enterprise, at least at its current location.
