Photo by gerdaindcIt seems like nowadays, everyone is starting a discount coupon website. We’d seen variations from Washington City Paper and other outlets before, and this week we caught word of two new ones: The Capitol Dish and CornerDish.
The Capitol Dish is an effort from the Washington Post, which kicked off with respectable offerings from Kaz Sushi Bistro, PS7s, and Napoleon Bistro and Lounge. The expectation seems to be that the clout and audience of the Post will drive a different audience from Groupon and Living Social. Meanwhile, last weekend saw a limited, but cool offering from CornerDish for a meal at MiniBar, where some of the proceeds would be donated to DC Central Kitchen. Other recent offers have also donated a percentage of the proceeds to other food-related charities such as Brainfood and Bethesda Cares.
Without a doubt, there is consumer value to be derived from all of these options. It’ll be interesting to see if even more of these programs pop up around town.
