Photo by NCinDC.Over the weekend, news broke that a 15-year-old female student at Dunbar High School in the District had accused six of her classmates of sexually assaulting her. Police arrested the six juvenile boys the victim accused and confirmed, in a statement, that the assault occurred on Tuesday morning during school hours and inside the building.
In response, DCPS Interim Chancellor Kaya Henderson sent a letter to parents regarding the incident and the security measures that the school will be enacting — a communique which I’m sure Henderson didn’t want to be composing less than one month into her term as interim director. In the letter, Henderson says that security at the school’s 1301 New Jersey Avenue NW location will be beefed up, including increased police presence and the potential installation of security cameras.
