Photo by philliefan99.This afternoon, WMATA announced another round of bus route “enhancements” for the District, Maryland and Virginia which will go into effect on December 19. The most prominent upgrade of the enhancement program is the introduction of the X9, an express, limited-stop route which will operate between the Capitol Heights Metro station and the intersection of 13th and H Streets NW.
Other routes which will experience extensions and alteration include an extension of the X1 to the Foggy Bottom station, the extension of two Virginia routes (7E and 16F) across the Potomac into the District, tweaks to the J2 route between Silver Spring and Bethesda and, finally, the contraction of 67 bus stops on the 62, 63, G8, U8 and X2 routes “that are underutilized or that are too close to each other.”
A complete list of all Metrobus route changes, including these upcoming ones, can be found here.
