Photo by yonas1.It’s Friday, and you know what that means: the beginning of a weekend bookended by a round of Metro delays. Red and Orange Line riders: take note.
Red Line:
>> Beginning tonight at 10 p.m. through closing on Sunday, trains will be single tracking between the Friendship Heights and Van Ness-UDC stations.
>> Also starting tonight at 10 p.m. through closing on Sunday, trains will single track between the New York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet University and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood stations. To assist the flow of rail travel towards D.C., every other train in the direction of Shady Grove will terminate and reverse direction at Friendship Heights.
>> On both Saturday and Sunday, Red Line trains will depart every 15 minutes from the termini at Shady Grove and Glenmont — for most of the day, trains will run every eight minutes between Van Ness-UDC and New York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet University.
Orange Line:
>> From 10 p.m. tonight through closing on Sunday, riders between New Carrollton and Cheverly should add 30 minutes to their travel time due to maintenance work. Due to this project, all New Carrollton-bound Orange Line trains will terminate at Cheverly between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
