The driver who crashed her Dodge Caliber into the Keren Restaurant in Adams Morgan on September 8 — an incident which eventually led to the death of Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies student Julia Bachleitner — has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of involuntary manslaughter and criminal negligence. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is also charging Chamica Adams, of Mitchellville, Maryland, with aggravated assault, driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with the crash.
Adams, who, according to court documents, blew a .17 and .18 in Breathalyzer tests after the accident, is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on January 14.
