A total of seven people were arrested this afternoon after two fighting incidents broke out on the satellite campus of Woodrow Wilson High School and a 13-year-old brought a “destructive device” to Jefferson Middle School.
In the incident at Jefferson, police arrested a male student for possession of a destructive device after school security found a bottle of liquid wrapped in tape in his backpack during a x-ray weapons screening. According to D.C. Public Schools, expulsion has been recommended for the student who brought the device — which WTOP is reporting was a Molotov cocktail — to school. Police are still investigating precisely what the student planned to do with the device and why he brought it to school in the first place.
Authorities also arrested six students at Wilson around 11:30 a.m. after two fights broke out inside the gym of the school’s satellite campus at 4340 Connecticut Avenue NW. The Post reports that some of the students involved in the fights suffered minor injuries.
