During an appearance on NewsTalk with Bruce DePuyt this morning, disgraced former city employee and mayoral candidate Sulaimon Brown lashed out at the Gray administration over his firing, which was announced last week after Brown was escorted out of the Department of Health Care Finance’s offices by security.

“I was actually appointed by the Mayor,” claimed Brown. “It was known by the Mayor months ago that he was going to give me an appointment. I’m very surprised and disappointed at his integrity, lack of leadership, his disrespect to not only me an my family, but also to the District of Columbia’s residents. He’s still perpetuating an untruth, as if to say that I’m some type of criminal with a background that they knew nothing about, and all of the sudden, wow, we found out this information and he was here one day and gone the next.”

Brown then went on to claim that he was not interviewed by Department of Health Care Finance interim director Wayne Turnage, but appointed to the $110,000 per year position after being “thoroughly vetted” by Gray administration Chief of Staff Gerri Mason Hall. Brown said he had an email trail which he would share. “Everything Mayor Gray says that he’s about, he’s done exactly the opposite,” said Brown. “I helped him out and then he turned around and tried to help me out by getting me a job.”

“The mayor is lying,” Brown continued. “It’s unfortunate that I have to get on the television and say that he’s lying, but I was expecting him to show some more leadership and dignity,” said Brown, who also claimed that he was working on working on numbers at United Medical Center. Brown said that his firing was “stressful.”
