We love Carla Hall. (We’re a sucker for the “hootie hoo,” what can we say.) We also love the D.C. Central Kitchen. (We’re also a sucker for charities that aren’t afraid to stand up to bullies.) So it’s a good day when the two join forces: according to the charity’s blog, Hall has joined the Central Kitchen’s board of directors.

Hall — we won’t spoil it for those of you still catching up on Top Chef All-Stars, but she’s doing very well — will join DCCK’s board, which boasts several stars of the local food scene, including Chair Emeritus José Andrés, Barton Seaver and Ris Lacoste. It sounds like Hall will be focusing her efforts on DCCK’s Culinary Job Training education offerings:

Carla is especially passionate about the CJT Program, which enrolls unemployed adults overcoming homelessness, addiction, and incarceration in a sixteen week professional education course. She has spoken at two CJT graduation ceremonies and remains inspired by the students’ transformation in the program.

“It is the most moving experience to see these students take that incredible step forward in changing their lives,” said Carla.

Hall — the “love secretary” of D.C. — judged D.C. Central Kitchen’s Capital Food Fight in 2009; she currently offers cooking classes and offers a cookie line through her alchemy brand.
