Photo by Matt.Dunn.A Guardian Angel-in-training was assaulted over the weekend inside the Anacostia Metro station after he intervened in a scuffle between a group and a pair of women. WTOP reports that Alex Kaufer, patrolling the station, witnessed a group of youth harassing two women by “making fun of them because they were white and because of the way they were dressed” — after one woman told the group she wasn’t afraid of them, a fight broke out during which Kaufer was allegedly punched in the face. More Angels came to Kaufer’s aid and eventually detained five teens for twenty minutes, until Metro Transit Police showed up and arrested them. The woman involved in the fight suffered a busted lip, but she has not yet pressed charges. The Angels have recently increased their patrols on Metrorail after several recent incidents of violence.
