Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has sure done some interesting things over the years. Cracking down on Craigslist personals? Sure. Covering up the breast on Virginia’s state seal? Yup. Alluding that President Barack Obama might not be an American citizen and suggesting that Social Security numbers are being used to track us? Oh, you better believe it. But here’s another opinion to add to The Cooch’s list: he says you’re able bring your gun with you to church.

In a letter released on Friday (see below), Cuccinelli stated that he believed that “carrying a weapon for personal protection constitutes a good and sufficient reason” under the law “to carry a weapon into a place of worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held there.” (The Cooch also noted that he believed that “places of worship can restrict or ban firearms from their premises.” So, no, he’s not forcing churches to allow people to carry guns.)

I never thought that churches might be somewhere that you’d need to be packing heat. But hey, with restaurants in Cleveland Park getting held up nowadays, who’s to say you won’t need to bust a cap in someone while partaking of the sacrament?
