Hey, so HFStival is back again. (Note: not everyone is thrilled about this.) For this year’s festival — on Saturday, September 17th at Merriweather Post Pavilion — the online radio station/brand/stalwart preservationists of mid-’90s mainstream, radio-friendly alternative rock (I’ll never forget you, Art Alexakis) eschewed last year’s strategy of shamelessly appealing to people who lost their virginity to Third Eye Blind and decided to…well, I’m not really sure what they were going for. But attendees who pony up $35 to $50 won’t be hard-pressed for diversity.
For those of you who don’t feel like clicking through a multimedia slideshow to find out who’s scheduled to perform, the bill includes headliners The Avett Brothers, Flogging Molly and Minus the Bear. (Those of you still spinning Jagged Little Pill in heavy rotation will have to settle for the Gin Blossoms.) There’s also a local stage with plenty of familiar names, like Middle Distance Runner (***), Tennis System (***) and Justin Trawick (***). There’s also an “acoustic tent,” which…well, let’s just say at least last year’s event at least had Billy Idol to look forward to.
The complete lineup is below. Pre-sale tickets go on sale Friday.
