The Post reports that the principal of Johnson Middle School, Pamela Ransome, is under internal investigation concerning allegations that she struck two students over the last two months.

But unlike other recent incidents involving educational personnel accused of hitting students, Ransome is not under criminal investigation — no charges were filed with MPD in either case. And though Ransome was disciplined for the first incident in which she allegedly “punched” a 12-year-old student (she was placed on administrative leave while police investigated), school officials aren’t talking, while the parents of the children are going to bat for their children, as one would expect.

Ransome, in her first year as a principal, currently makes a six-figure salary. One imagines these allegations will certainly come up during her annual review with Chancellor Kaya Henderson; though one wonders whether this or Johnson’s incredibly poor test results — only 14% of students at the school meet or exceed city standards in math and reading, far below average levels of proficiency — will be the first item on the agenda during the meeting between the two at year’s end.
