Photo by BrianMKA.It was a rough weekend for former D.C. alcohol control board chairman Charles Brodsky — first, he resigned from his position on Friday, then he was arrested on Saturday. According to the Post, Brodsky was taken into custody in Adams Morgan on Saturday night and charged with impersonating a police officer. Brodsky allegedly saw an D.C. police officer preparing to ticket his vehicle around 9:15 p.m. for a parking violation, then entered the vehicle to attach a red light and a placard which stated “POLICE OFFICIAL BUSINESS.” The Post reports that Brodsky then told police that he was on control board business, admitted that “a police friend” gave him the light, and claimed he was an Alexandria police officer, later recanting that claim.
Brodsky, who owns a sports management company and founded the Nation’s Triathlon, cited potential conflicts with his business interests as the explanation for his resignation. Mayor Vince Gray had previously said that he would not reappoint the Brodsky, who was appointed by former mayor Adrian Fenty, at the end of his term; the city launched an investigation into allegations of Brodsky’s involvement in ethical misconduct.
