You’ll probably need to put those plans on hold — offices for those agencies are all closed today due to the power outages around the city’s Northeast quadrant. In addition, the city’s school district has been forced to move its central office functions to remote locations and employees’ homes. For up to the minute details on closures, you can call the Mayor’s Command Center at 202-727-6161. Pepco is still working to restore a large number of outages around the city.
UPDATE: D.C. Water spokesperson Alan Heymann writes in to let us know that the water utility’s Customer Service offices at 810 First Street NE are also closed today. If you’re having water troubles, you can still call the Emergency Command Center at (202) 612-3400; payments can be made using D.C. Water’s automated phone system (202-354-3600), or in person at TD Bank and Premier Bank locations.
