Tonight, the District Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to discuss expanding DC Circulator bus service across the Anacostia River for the first time.
DDOT has outlined plans to extend the Union Station-Navy Yard route across the South Capitol Street Bridge with 11 new stops, including ones in Historic Anacostia and Skyland. The new route — which, if all goes well, would start running east of the river in October — would terminate at the Congress Heights Metro station. The discussion comes as the city is seeking to eliminate a fifty-cent Metrobus discount for those transferring between buses in Anacostia; according to Kytja Weir, the timing of the two initiatives are not related.
Tonight’s meeting will take place at the UPO Building at 1649 Good Hope Road SE and starts at 6:30 p.m. — the building is close to the Anacostia station on Metro’s Green Line, and can be reached by taking the 90, 92, 93, V5, B2, U2, W6, W8, A42, A46, A48, P1, P2, P6, 32, or 34 Metrobus lines.
