Pamela Ransome, the principal of Johnson Middle School who was under internal investigation over allegations that she struck two students, has been let go from her job. According to the Post, Ransome was placed on administrative leave until the end of the school year, but will not return as principal next year. There have not been any criminal charges filed in the two incidents, in which Johnson is accused of “punching” a 12-year-old student and leading an 11-year-old student to hit her head against a wall during an altercation.
Test scores recorded under Ransome at Johnson were also quite low; it remains unclear whether that, the corporal punishment investigation or a combination of both were the reason DCPS will not be bringing Ransome back next year.
