Video of at least one crew-related brawl which broke out during Saturday’s Caribbean Carnival surfaced on the Internet this morning. It’s unknown if there is any connection between the brawls and the shootings which occurred later in the afternoon after the parade had passed, but both incidents appear to involve conflicts between neighborhood residents.

The video above depicts a street fight that broke out between the “Top Flight” and “Hampshire Towers” crew at some point on Saturday afternoon. Members of both face off and square up to throw punches, but — as these kinds of things tend to do — things quickly disintegrate into a muddled mess. It is pretty clear, though, that at least a few people were assaulted in the video before three Howard University Police officers arrived to the scene on Segways to break up the fight.

While it doesn’t appear that anyone was seriously hurt in this specific scuffle, the video certainly serves as evidence that there was heightened tensions between attendees of the parade before the shooting incident which killed one and wounded three others on the corner of Georgia Avenue and Gresham Place NW.
