Did your neighborhood resemble a Revolutionary War battlefield late last night? The Washingtonian tradition of treating the Fourth of July as the annual opportunity to engage our inner Michael Bay is common knowledge — but according to reports, the evening’s street fireworks probably could have been even louder. NBCWashington.com notes that police confiscated 2,710 illegal fireworks in two busts over the weekend, seizing approximately $10,000 worth of firecrackers, bottle rockets and the like.

That’s an impressive figure. Of course, it didn’t really put a crimp in people’s plans to blow up neighborhoods like Petworth for a good portion of the evening.
