How can anyone expect that they can cause a raucous or start a fight in a public space and not be caught on tape. Police officers aren’t exempt from this rule either.

Another YouTube video, uploaded over the holiday weekend, shows an unidentified man and a uniformed D.C. police officer taunting each other until the incident escalates into a fight. The altercation appears to take place on 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan, somewhat in front of Tom Toms. For more than a minute, the videos shows the man and officer walking circles around each other, posturing and goading, while dozens of onlookers heckle on. Several times the two men square off, fists up, appearing ready to throw punches within moments, only to backdown. Finally, tensions, as well as the crowd’s bloodlust, rise and the D.C. officer appears to throw the first punch, tackling the other man and arresting him.

Surprisingly, one can see two other uniformed officers in the video, probably in place to keep crowd control while the shenanigans continued behind them. But in a busy Adams Morgan weekend night, to think that three can control dozens onlookers, they were asking for trouble. And that’s what they may get. According to the Washington Post, MPD is aware of the video and investigating the incident.
