The call-up is more evidence that, in Hamid, United have one of the best American prospects around — and while United have had players make the national team before (look no further than the team’s current head coach), it’s certainly a welcome surprise to see Hamid backing up stalwart Tim Howard in the States’ upcoming friendly against Mexico.
It’s unclear if Hamid will see any action in the August 10 match (9 p.m., live on ESPN2), but it wouldn’t surprise us to see him get a half in.
