The number of women who have reported being stabbed or slashed by a man in Fairfax County has now increased to nine, after three more women came forward.

According to a press release, Fairfax County authorities believe that the same man (pictured at right) is responsible for several similar incidents around the county that date back to February. The stabber’s modus operandi is apparently to divert the attention of his victim, then stab or slash them in the buttocks with a box cutter or razor blade. According to police, three additional women say that, in late July, they were distracted before feeling like they “backed into a hanger” and then realizing that they had been cut.

The man, who was captured on surveillance camera at a Marshall’s in Chantilly, is described as a larger Hispanic male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and around 30 years of age. If you think you see the man, Fairfax County police are asking citizens to either call them at 703-691-2131 or 866-411-TIPS, or text “TIP187” to 274637.
