The Bryce Harper Jerk Watch continues! The Nationals phenom obviously let the pressure of being the next Jackie Robinson get to him last night, getting tossed from a game in Harrisburg.

During a game for the Nats’ Double-A affiliate, Harper was called out on strikes by umpire Max Guyll on a full count. Thinking it was ball four, Harper had already started walking to first base; when the strikeout was called, Harper sprinted back to the plate, tossing his helmet to the ground in the process and started shouting at Guyll, then kicked dirt on him. Yeah, he was ejected.

Now, players exploding at the umpires is nothing out of the ordinary in baseball. (And it sounds like Harper had a pretty solid case for arguing about the inconsistency of Guyll’s strike zone.) But for a guy who most of America probably recognizes as the kid who blew kisses at a pitcher after hitting a home run (or the dude who went oh-fer in the Future All-Stars game), stuff like this surely isn’t going to help improve the reputation.
