It appears that one of the most high-profile casualties from today’s earthquake could be the National Cathedral’s stone finials. As you can see in this photo from DCist Flickr pool contributor SmthngBeautiful, one fell from the Cathedral’s central tower after the ground shook. But not to fear! Lydia DePillis reports that the rest of the Cathedral made it through the ordeal pretty well, considering.

The Cathedral will remain closed to the public until a complete inspection of the 104-year-old building can be completed.
