It was an awful weekend for trees around the D.C. region.

Roots were loosened as Irene’s rain softened the ground and gale force winds ripped up trees that came down violently along roads, cars and homes. Downed trees are dangerous, and the damage they cause can be both frustrating and costly. Their demise is also incredibly sad.
