Daryl Hannah — you know, the mermaid from Splash — was arrested in front of the White House this afternoon. WJLA reports that Hannah, who’s gotten arrested for environmental causes once or twice in her time, was protesting the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline between Canada and through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas to the Gulf Coast when she was taken into custody, joining dozens of others who have been taken away by the Park Police while protesting the project recently.

We sure bet the people at the Park Police processing center in Anacostia will be pretty surprised to see Elle Driver walk through their door. (One wonders if she was humming Bernard Herrmann while she was being cuffed.)
