Well, hundreds haven’t quite swarmed to the 14th Street Bridge as of yet, but a hardy bunch who did attend this weekend’s Occupy DC protest are still in McPherson Square this morning, bundling up for the long haul.
Some of the highlights from the weekend? Well, President Barack Obama’s motorcade drove by, there was the completion of a few general assemblies to address the various grievance of the people who showed up, and a temporary relocation to Franklin Park, after one of the protesters brought a coffin with “Death to Death Penalty” written on it that police thought was a suspicious package. A few protesters even tried to spend the night on the sidewalks around McPherson Square, despite the chilly temperatures and the rain:
So, no, the people who are down there aren’t going anywhere soon. The big question: will these folks be able to hold out until this weekend, when reinforcements in the form of a second Occupy protest at Freedom Plaza are slated to arrive?
But, hey, if anything, at least the group was nice enough to produce a map of where you can pee if you ever find yourself with the pressing urge for a public restroom near McPherson Square.
