UPDATE: According to the Washington Post, Smithsonian spokeswoman Linda St. Thomas said a large group of protesters tried to push past security and enter the museum. They were carrying signs and other items that are not allowed inside. D.C. police and U.S. Park Police were called.
Eric Sponaugle, part of the Occupy D.C. movement, claims that the actions of the protesters were not planned or endorsed by Occupy D.C.
The museum is expected to open as usual tomorrow.
ORIGINAL POST: A group that may have been affiliated with Occupy D.C. or the Stop the Machine movement was maced while trying to protest at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum this afternoon. The museum is now closed.
