After bankruptcy claimed the Borders bookstore at 1801 K Street NW, many wondered who would take up the space. Well, the storefront at least has a temporary replacement — this year’s FotoWeekDC photography festival, which will occupy the space for a week, beginning November 4.

The temporary exhibition space, which organizers call “FotoWeek CENTRAL“, will serve as the headquarters for the fourth annual festival and as a central hub for several other festival locations like George Washington University and The Corcoran Gallery of Art. The space will be open to the public, and is one of many pop-up areas that the festival’s organizers are planning to operate. The main event to be held at the former bookstore is the festival’s preview opening on November 4.

In previous years, the festival had its headquarters inside the Corcoran and at various spots in Georgetown.
