Photo by poppyott. The venerable Tune Inn is coming back. The adored bar will reopen on Friday, November 4, several months after an early morning fire caused significant damage and forced ownership to rebuild the kitchen.
The restaurant and bar will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. — just in time for breakfast — on Friday. The relatively speedy recovery was given a boost by the quick work of D.C. firefighters on the morning of the blaze and significant community support, including a fundraiser which raised around $40,000 for the friendly staff at the Tune Inn who were suddenly left without work. There will be a “special thank you event” held to honor of the firefighters who prevented the popular watering hole from complete destruction on Sunday between 10 a.m. and noon.
Suffice it to say, this is some pretty good news, especially since the Tune’s neighbor has basically vanished into the ether. I can almost taste the tuna melt already.
