Big retail and development news tonight from the Washington Post’s Nikita Stewart, who reports that tomorrow, Walmart and Mayor Vince Gray will announce the retailer’s plans to build two more stores in upcoming years, in addition to four already-planned outlets. The two new locations will be located at the long-in-planning Skyland Town Center development in Ward 7 — which had long been rumored as a possible Walmart landing spot — and at Fort Totten Square in Ward 4.

The announcement will bring the total number of Walmarts planned inside the District to a whopping six, even though there was substantial opposition mounted against the original plan of four.
