Earlier today, DCmud heard that the Lincoln Theatre, which was recently placed in the hands of the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, will next week open what will presumably be a popular ticket.
Starting Dec. 21, the Lincoln will begin running The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, David Fincher’s much anticipated English-language adaptation of the best-selling Stieg Larsson novel.
As the City Paper’s Ally Schweitzer has been reporting lately, the Lincoln is in a bit of a rough patch financially, and on Dec. 31 will officially fall under the commission’s oversight.
Landmark Theatres booked the film for the Lincoln. But as one of the biggest prestige titles coming up, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo will also be playing at big multiplexes in addition to the 1,225-seat Lincoln. (Though Landmark secured the movie for the beleaguered theater, it won’t be playing it at its venues on E Street NW or in Bethesda.)
Stephanie Kagan, a publicist for Landmark, couldn’t share too much information about the four-week run booked at the Lincoln, as details like ticket prices are still being worked out. According to DCmud’s post, Mayor Vince Gray and Victor Hoskins, deputy mayor for planning and economic development, will hold a press conference early next week ahead of the opening of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
But they should probably announce prices and methods of purchase for the Lincoln soon, as Regal Gallery Place and AMC Loews Georgetown, along with suburban theaters, have already started their online sales for the film.
