DCRTV is reporting right now that Darian Morgan, better known as Big Tigger, was let go today from his morning-drive perch at urban contemporary station WPGC 95.5 FM. Morgan, according to a company email obtained by DCRTV, started with the CBS-owned station as an intern in 1993. Today also happens to be his 39th birthday. Not the greatest way to celebrate turning older. From DCRTV’s report:

We’re told that he has a six-month non-complete clause in his contract prohibiting him from being heard on any area stations until mid-2012. Not the greatest ratings since he got moved over from afternoons a year-and-a-half ago, DCRTV guesses. Plus, the station’s been in a bruising battle with Clear Channel’s top-rated contemporary hit Hot 99.5, WIHT, with Kane in mornings. Also, Big Tigger’s contract was due to expire this spring.

UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: Morgan confirmed his departure from WPGC on his Twitter account shortly after 1 p.m., saying that the Big Tigger Morning Show “is no more.”

We’re working to get in touch with Morgan and with his apparently now-former employer.
