If you want a great cocktail, head to The Passenger. But how about a great beer?
Draft magazine rolled out its 100 best beer bars in the U.S. list today, and the District is basically exactly where it was in when last year’s list came out — Bier Baron and ChurchKey are the magazine’s go-to locations for beer in the city. New to the list, though, is Arlington’s Lyon Hall, which the magazine described thusly:
This swanky bar serves serious French cuisine, but it’s still the epitome of cool: Its intimate atmosphere’s scored with a hipster soundtrack, its bartenders have a passion for of-the-moment beer, and no one will care if you drink your 21st Amendment Back in Black straight from the can.
ChurchKey gets the nod as the “capital’s premier location for beer,” and we’re surely not going to quibble with that. As for the Bier Baron, well, it is what it is. Some people love it, some people hate it and others eventually find a beer that’s in stock.
Faithful alternatives, in my humble opinion: Meridian Pint, Brasserie Beck, Birreria Paradiso, Black Squirrel and Rustico.
