Chuck Brown had the crowd moving.

The Godfather of Go-Go isn’t well, it seems.

According to a posting on Chuck Brown’s Facebook page this weekend, the city’s most famous musical figure is currently in the hospital. “The Brown family wants to extend their thanks and deepest appreciation to everyone for their concern, prayers and best wishes for Chuck Brown during his hospitalization. They ask for your continued prayers,” said a short message posted yesterday.

There aren’t many details as to what Brown is suffering from—his press people weren’t immediately available for comment—but a sold-out Saturday show at the Howard Theatre was postponed due to “joint pain and inflammation,” according to the theatre. (His show has been rescheduled for June 29.)

Brown has apparently been ill for a while. Two weeks ago Brown posted on his Facebook page: “Much love and thanks for all the support ya’ll been giving me these past few weeks. I’m still in recovery mode, but doing better and looking forward to partying with ya’ll again soon! I’m grateful for all the well wishes and kind notes – there’s no love like DC love!” On March 8, Brown posted: “Feelin better everyday.. Thanks for all the love and well wishes and kind notes!” Just a week prior, he postponed a show in Charlotte, North Carolina, simply saying “I’m under the weather and doctor says I need a couple days rest.”

We’ll update with more details as they become available.
