Yesterday, we told you that Shake Shack will be moving into the International Spy Museum, taking over the space currently occupied by the drab, dull Spy Café. But the museum’s building has another restaurant space, occupied until very recently by Zola, the contemporary French spot.
The City Paper, via a tip caught on WaPo food critic Tom Sietsma’s weekly chat, reports that Zola’s former location will be taken over by the restaurateur and chef Ashok Bajaj, of Rasika, Oval Room, Bibiana and other high-end restaurants around town.
But the deal between Bajaj’s restaurant group and Douglas Development Corp., which owns the building at 800 F Street, happened so fast, Bajaj doesn’t even have a concept worked up for the new place, which will open in mid-2013. All that’s known is that it’ll be one more stop on Bajaj’s drive home; he’s known for doing a nightly check-in at each of his restaurants before calling it a day.
